I have been trying to use repetier on my new printer rapide lite 200 which is using the rumba/taurino driver compatible with ATmega2560 on Com3. Please, do some work and make this app bearable and usable. Since I started with 3D printing, this app has to be the most annoying and infuriating thing about printing. I could not even be tempted to donate towards the development of this app. yes, compared to the BASIC controls of maya, Repetier is worse than basic, its pathetic, and that is as kind as I can be whilst remaining honest about it. The controls contradict the controls of more professional software like the autodesk suite, while it would take not much work to match the controls for 3D navigation to something like Maya's controls. The interface is poor and does not make the basic controls any easier. There is no copy paste, the controls are useless, ever heard of hot keys? Good apps use them to make things easier. I look at the new 3D builder apps in windows, and find them to be just as crap. How can something be seen as the best thing to use, when it is so poor and basic? It is just as random with multiple part items that have bearings or hinges. It results in prints where the nozzle is jumping from one side of the table and back, totally randomly, instead of doing things linearly for speed and consistency. The default, automatic object placement is terrible. But I am taking premade objects from Thingiverse, and want to drop them straight into Repetier, click a few buttons and go. OK, I hear you, open 3DS Max or something, and build an object file that has them all evenly spaced. When I want to do 24x an object, this becomes the biggest annoyance ever. So if I want a 5mm space between multiple objects, then I have to lay them out manually myself. There is no setting for spacing between objects. So OBVEOUSLY it would make sense to print such things in batches. There is no point in printing 1 single 6mm belt clip, Cable clip, or T-nut. With some plastics, (ABS) I find it necessary to use a raft layer for printing small parts. So why is the object placement so limited and buggy? Repetier seems to be the no.1 goto software for use with a 3D printer. TL DR / Mangement Summary: Transfer RHs Slicer-Configuration from Windows to Linux -> How?Īll the best & thanks in advance for your outstanding support! (*) Minor glitch: connect to server (api-key and so on.) shows the printer _twice_ and I cannot figure out how to remove the "wrong one" (I do know which one to select, choosing 'other one' crashes RH.) it's just annoying. I don't care much about the printer-settings ("Kopiere Servereinstellungen" should take care of this (*)) but having to re-create the Cura-Slicer-Configuration is gonna *hurt*, badly. How do I transfer my RH/Slicer-Configuration from my old machine (Win 7) to the new box (Linux Mint) and is this even possible? RFC: add "installing mono-complete should be sufficient" somewhere on your download/info-page + sudo apt-get install mono-complete -> RH is working, Webcam-button also shows up and works dito basic commands work (home heat bed fan-speed and so on) -> YAY! > followed the "sehr sparsam & übersichtlich" instructions on (the site talks about 16.04 or older and "should work with newer Ubuntu versions too but we only test the ones below." but so what if this borks the new and shiny OS-install, don't care!) >) of course mono included with Mint 18.3 Sylvia was too old, RH didn't even start Question: how does one update from Repetier-Host-x86_64-2.0.5.AppImage to -say- Repetier-Host-x86_64-2.0.something.AppImage without breaking all shortcuts? Question: how does one remove the shortcuts created by running " -prepare", does a parameter exist for this? configure printer or something-) Webcam-Button didn't show up and so on > silent *crash* during adding my printer, most likely because I decided to remove the default-printer before successfully adding the new one also some weird artifacts with the GUI (open another app while RH is running and has a blocking dialog open -e.g. Admin-box shall change to Linux Mint 18.3 Sylvia, HW: Core i5, 16GB, 250GB SSD (Printer and RasPi will remain unchanged) Admin-box / "daily driver" from yesteryear: Win 7, ~6 years old and _creaking_, don't ask about the specs Printer attached to a dedicated RepetierServer Pro on a RasPi3 so the daring operator decided to go cold turkey -)
